On the first Sunday of October, Women Leaders South Africa (WLSA) hosted its first introductory team brunch at a picturesque restaurant in Menlyn. The aim of the brunch was to create a space for the volunteer leaders to get to know each other as colleagues, connect and strategize for the year 2022.
We facilitated a presentation about WLSA projects, which had been hosted over the past months and the remainder of the year, namely: Girls & Boys Empowered Project, Gaegolelwe Adult Centre Empowerment Project, Impact Accelerated Project, Food Parcels, Dignity Packs & Pad Drive, Matric Dance Farewell, Sunrise Secondary School Project, and Stationary Drive.
Creating a sisterhood through leadership skills development
Through the volunteer programme, WLSA aims to create a platform where young leaders can connect, share knowledge and new skills to help develop their personal and career goals. It also allows a safe haven to celebrate individuality, socialise and heal oneself whilst healing others.
We wrapped up the meeting with a toast to the sisterhood, 2022 strategic planning, and the formation of committees and the allocation of roles and responsibilities.
We believe that we can lead the change in our communities and continent, and we know it starts with us.
